FIH oficializa equipos y fechas de la Nations Cup en Chile
Lausana, Suiza.- La Federación Internacional de Hockey (FIH) anunció que la tercera edición de la Copa de Naciones FIH de Hockey Césped Femenino se jugará en Chile del 23 de febrero al 2 de marzo de 2025. Entre los equipos participantes se encuentran algunas de las mejores naciones de hockey del mundo, e incluso dos de ellas -Japón y Estados Unidos-, han disputado los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024:
- Canadá
- Chile
- Irlanda
- Japón
- Corea del Sur
- Nueva Zelanda
- Escocia
- Estados Unidos
“Para nosotros es un orgullo tremendo poder ser anfitriones nuevamente de un evento de la FIH ¡Seremos los dueños de casa de una Nations Cup! Esto es un logro gigante no sólo para la disciplina, si no que para el deporte chileno en general. Esperamos a todas las jugadoras de varias de las mejores selecciones del mundo con los brazos abiertos para la acción”, indicó Andrés de Witt, Presidente de la Federación Chilena de Hockey Césped y del Comité Organizador Local del evento.
Comentando el anuncio, el Presidente de la FIH Tayyab Ikram dijo: «Es un gran placer volver a Chile para otro gran evento FIH. El país sudamericano es una nación en alza en el hockey y siempre ha organizado fantásticos torneos de la FIH. Me gustaría dar las gracias a Chile por acogernos una vez más y deseo a todos los atletas que vivan una gran Copa de Naciones de Hockey FIH en Chile.»
La FIH Hockey Nations Cup se puso en marcha en 2021 con el objetivo de ofrecer una competición de alto nivel a los equipos mejor clasificados que no participan en la FIH Hockey Pro League y dar al equipo ganador la opción de ascender a la FIH Hockey Pro League la temporada siguiente, precisamente.
Las dos primeras ediciones de la FIH Hockey Nations Cup (femenina) se disputaron en España (en Valencia en 2022 y en Terrassa en 2024). India ganó la edición inaugural, mientras que España se impuso en la segunda.

FIH announces teams and dates for the Nations Cup in Chile
Lausanne, Switzerland: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is glad to announce that the third edition of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup (women) will be played in Chile from 23 February to 2 March 2025.
The participating teams include some of the best hockey nations in the world, with even two of them – Japan and the USA –, having played at the Paris 2024 Olympics:
- Canada
- Chile
- Ireland
- Japan
- Korea
- New Zealand
- Scotland
- USA
“For us it is a tremendous pride to be able to host an FIH event again. We will be the hosts of a Nations Cup! This is a giant achievement not only for the discipline, but for Chilean sport in general. We are waiting for all the players from several of the best teams in the world with open arms for action”, said Andrés de Witt, President of the Chilean Field Hockey Federation and the Local Organizing Committee of the event.
Commenting on the announcement, FIH President Tayyab Ikram said: “It’s with great pleasure that we’re returning to Chile for another major FIH event. The South American country is a rising hockey nation and has always put together fantastic FIH hockey tournaments. I would like to thank Chile for hosting us once again and I wish all athletes to experience a great FIH Hockey Nations Cup in Chile!”
The FIH Hockey Nations Cup was launched in 2021 with the aim of offering a top-level competition to the best-ranked teams not participating in the FIH Hockey Pro League and giving the winning team the option to be promoted to the FIH Hockey Pro League the next season, precisely.
The first two editions of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup (women) were played in Spain (in Valencia in 2022 and in Terrassa in 2024). India won the inaugural edition, whilst Spain won the second one.
